BCMS’s annual Chamber Music Workshop for Mixed Ensembles welcomes intermediate and advanced mixed chamber groups (trios, quartets, quintets and sextets). Only pre-formed groups may apply. Participation is limited to eight groups which will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Each group receives one coaching session in the morning and one in the afternoon. While not being coached, participants may rest/practice or form ad hoc groups to play additional music.

Coaches include clarinetist Thomas Hill, violinist Judith Eissenberg, violist Marcus Thompson and pianist Andrew Armstrong.

Tuition covers coaching, breakfast, lunch and refreshments and is based on the size of your group:

  • trio & quartet: $145 pp
  • quintet & up: $130 pp

Tuition is non-refundable.

Location   The workshop will take place at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, on its main campus with outstanding music facilities.

Applications must be received by February 10, 2017. Participants should include on the application the name of the work that has been selected for study. These may be complete works or individual movements (e.g., Mozart Piano Quartet in E-flat , K. 493; 1st and 2nd movements of Beethoven String Quartet in B-flat, Op. 130).
